Know someone who could do with a treat? Get nominating!
We’re asking YOU to nominate amazing friends, family, colleagues and neighbours to win tickets to a show of their choice at our May half-term festival.
Inspired by slapstick legends Buster Keaton and Charlie Chaplin, the side-splitting Chores is heading to St. Michael’s Church Hall, Wilberforce Sixth Form College, North Bransholme Community and Hymers College.
With skilled circus stunts, side splitting gags and very little spoken dialogue, you’ll find yourself on the edge of your seat and giggling.
Truth to Power Café see local people and maybe a few familiar faces respond to ‘Who has power over you and what do you want to say to them?’ before a live audience.
Four shows at The Marvell College, Sirius Academy North, Derringham Bank Methodist Church and Hull Minster will see people baring their souls and talking about the power in their lives, whoever and wherever it comes from.
Do you know a child who has something to say? Have they got the bit between their teeth? Then they need to come and get on the Back to Ours High Horse.
Taking over The Living Room at North Point Shopping Centre for a week, The Great and Powerless Peter and his All-Powerful Troupe will be galloping into town with their wonderful circus side show to let the children of the city have their say.
And what sort of festival would it be without a now-iconic Secret Gig? Well this time there’s still two, and both on the same night. If you want to take a risk on which amazing performers will be gracing the stages at William Gemmell Club and Willows Social Club, you’ll just have to make your choice between East or West…
Over to Tony Forrester, our Community Engagement Manager…
‘Back to Ours is all about people.
‘We want to bring brilliant shows to the city and give everyone the same opportunity to experience them – that’s why we tour work around different venues in the very heart of communities, in everyday venues we can transform into Big Tops or theatres or gig stages.
‘If you know someone who deserves a treat, a morning or afternoon out to see a great show, we want to hear from you.’
People nominating are asked to message us on firstname.lastname@example.org or through Facebook @BacktoOursHull by Friday 17 May, stating who they’d like to nominate and why.
The recipients will be surprised with their tickets on Monday 20 May.
