Bransholme Chat

Bransholme Chat

Open every Tue-Sat, 10am-3pm at Bransholme Chat, North Point Shopping Centre, Bransholme, HU7 4EE.

We’re delighted to announce that Bransholme Chat has been awarded another three years of funding by the National Lottery Community Fund – read all about it here.

Back to Ours is and always has been about people, and what do people like doing best? Having a right good old natter.

At the heart of the Bransholme Chat is bringing people together and helping to build new friendships at a time when social isolation is at its highest, a place where anyone and everyone can come and chat.

Launched in 2019 with a grant from the National Community Lottery Fund, Bransholme Chat is a legacy of the Gold Nose of Green Ginger, part of Hull 2017 UK City of Culture’s Land of Green Ginger project. It became evident that people wanted a space, a place to meet and chat, swap stories and try different things.

We can’t lie, COVID-19 was a challenge for a Chat Shop, but the team adapted quickly with 1000s of regular phone chats and newsletters across 2020/21. It’s ALL about connecting and chatting, and we’re proud of our team for supporting some of the most vulnerable people in our neighbourhoods in a really difficult time.

Bransholme Chat is a multi-functional space with the front room open for drop-in chat and the back room used for exhibitions, workshops, gigs, and even theatre shows – our in-house children’s show  High Horse  premiered there for a week before moving onto The Big Malarkey and Freedom Festival, and it was also a hive of production activity during 1940’s punk-pop circus opera  Back to Bransholme.

And did you know the Chat Shop’s hosted exhibitions and guest chats by artists Dom Heffer, Shaz Darley, Chrissy Collinson, documentary photographer Jason Shipley, and Studio McGuire with the world premiere of their innovative Hologram Jukebox?

The focus up to now has been on Bransholme, and now we’re looking outwards with some exciting international projects linking us up with the rest of the world in 2023 and beyond.
