Since last March, we’ve been finding different ways to keep connecting with audiences at home – for a while we were bringing you all sorts Right on your Sofa, but now we’re moving back Right on your Doorstep too.
Across lockdown we hosted over 70 events online streamed live through either our Facebook page or YouTube channel. We introduced a regular Monday night Bedtime Story for families to gather round and watch, a Friday evening gig – music and singers across all genres, poetry, and even a Circus on your Sofa – and artist takeover days from Studio McGuire (our digital partners), The Herd (our associate theatre company), Lydia Caprani (the artist on our Bilton Grange Mural Project and illustrator of our beautiful children’s activity book for lockdown) and Lost in Translation (one of our circus partners).
There’s also been plenty going on behind the scenes, with:
9 Zoom drama workshops;
250 Back to Ours arts activity books distributed throughout the city, designed by Lydia Caprani;
100+ artists and freelancers employed during lockdowns;
500 phone chats with people through Bransholme Chat since moving to a telephone service, including over 7000 chatting minutes and 2400 newsletters;
More than 1700 chats with people, inside and outside Bransholme Chat since January 2020.
On 16 March 2020, our Facebook page was followed by 3552 people. This now (as of July 2021) stands at 7507 – a growth of 111% – and we’ve had a cracking total digital audience of 1,399,780 people over the year and growing.
Everyone’s welcome to the BTO party, so hop onto our Facebook page and see if you find something you like, from Bedtime Stories to live gigs and documentaries.
