We LOVE a good knees up here at Back to Ours, and Shindig is all about just that; people having a good time and enjoying themselves.

Our first Shindig was back in December at Thornton Village Hall, with special guests Ruth Getz, poet Dean Wilson, Jean and Morag {The Tea Ladies} and our favourite Elvis, Memphis Pete. There was chaotic musical bingo, jiving all over the place, a cracking festive afternoon tea and a whole lot of laughing and talking.

The Big Easter Shindig was in April at the lovely Edinburgh Street Community Centre.. This time we welcomed back Ruth and Jean and Morag, but were also joined by Daddy Cool, Kingston Swing, and the rather suave Soul Sensation. There was more afternoon tea, even more musical bingo, a lot of dancing, Easter eggs, bonnets, and a straw rabbit in a carrot-shaped car (don’t ask).

Where will Shindig travel to next? We don’t know – yet. It might pop up near you, and, if you’re over 60 and fancy a cracking afternoon out, it’s probably for you.
