The Back to Ours Christmas Parade runs across four nights in four areas of Hull; Southcoates, Greatfield, Orchard Park & North Hull, and Derringham.
A beautifully-illuminated parade of vehicles and colourful characters travel through back roads and streets, encouraging people to wrap up, come out, and join in the festive magic – from waving from bedroom windows, to standing at the bottom of the garden with a brew and gathering together with friends, family and neighbours to have a Winter Parade party – it’s all about getting in the Christmas spirit and bringing people together.
The Winter parade started as The Christmas Card, a story told as an animation during lockdowns after working with our Hub members to find out what they’d like to see as a Christmas event; one of our members commented “Wouldn’t it be lovely to just step into a Christmas Card?’, and the idea of a magical Christmas card that comes to life on the streets of Hull was born.
The Parade brings so many elements of Back to Ours together – reaching and engaging thousands of people with a beautiful event that connects on a hyperlocal level, involving our fab Act to Ours drama group together alongside professional performers, and working with Hub members to create small, static events that sit alongside the main Parade route.
