Right on your Doorstep

Right on Your Doorstep

We bring high-quality arts experiences to people in neighbourhoods across Hull, Right on your Doorstep, using our ingredients of mixing the familiar with the unfamiliar to engage and excite. Basically we’re not happy if we’re not out and about having a good chat and surprising people.

People are always at the heart of our work. Reaching new audiences, exciting and retaining them lies behind every programming or commissioning decision we make.

The audience member is experiencing Back to Ours from the moment they first come across information about a show or an event. And the experience doesn’t end when the show or event finishes – this is just the start of their journey. Every programming decision, including those taken with and by our Hub members, draws on the programming principles and questions that put the audience at the centre.

Things you might have seen Right on your Doorstep include:

Summer Sharrabang, stopping at Greatfield, Kilnsea Grove, Bilton Grange and Derringham;

Our Winter Parade, weaving through streets in East Hull, Derringham and Orchard Park & North Hull;

February half-term fun with The Adventures of Bo Peep at Edinburgh Street Community Centre;

Shindigs, our party afternoons for the over 55’s;

Circus on your Doorstep, popping up for a week and bringing circus performers from all over the world to Bransholme.

We continue to develop the Back to Ours network of ‘non-traditional’ community venues which have attracted sell-out audiences across the city, comprising William Gemmell Social Club, Thornton Village Hall, Sirius Academy North, Sirius Academy West, St. Aidan’s Church, St. Michael’s & All Angels Church Hall, Wilberforce College, Willows Social Club, St. Stephen’s Neighbourhood Centre, Derringham Bank Church and North Point Shopping Centre, Bransholme.
